Trommelen – The anabolic response to protein intake during the recovery phase

This commentary discusses new research findings showing that, in young men who engage in recreational sports, consuming a very large amount of protein (100 g) after strength training leads to greater and longer-lasting muscle protein synthesis (MPS) than a typical dose of 25 g. However, the authors emphasize that these findings do not call into question the value of regular, consistent protein distribution across meals—especially for athletes—and highlight that practical benefits and gender-specific differences require further research.
