Remineralization of Enamel and Dentin by Toothpastes Containing Nano-Hydroxyapatite

In this in vitro study, the remineralizing effects of various nano-hydroxyapatite toothpastes were compared to those of an amine fluoride toothpaste on bovine enamel and dentin lesions. The nano-hydroxyapatite products showed significantly higher remineralization in dentin and comparable effects in enamel compared to fluoride. The results suggest that nano-hydroxyapatite toothpastes represent an effective alternative or supplement to fluoride for promoting the repair of hard dental tissues.
